
Community Housing Officer

Jewish Care is currently seeking a Community Housing Officer to join their friendly and hard-working Community Services team. In this role, you will contribute towards ensuring that the department provides high quality housing management services within our Retirement Living Services located in Golders Green and Hendon. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small team, alongside colleagues from the Care and Support and Property teams.
What you’ll be doing:
- Liaising with the Property Services department to effectively manage void units within a specified turnaround timeframe
- Conducting viewing appointments and showing vacant apartments
- Leading on property sign-ups and ensuring that tenants understand their tenancy agreements and responsibilities.
- Ensuring tenants understand their financial obligations in relation to rent and other charges
- Helping tenants to settler in and Ensure they are familiar with the services and appliances in their new home
- Ensuring tenants are compliant with their tenancy agreements and taking proactive action in relation to any breaches such as ASB, rent arrears and neighbourhood disputes
- Carrying out annual landlord checks and ensuring any emerging issues are addressed e.g. repairs and maintenance or fire safety issues
- Working with the Resource Manager, Health & Safety Manager and Property Services team to ensure Health & Safety compliance within the building including undertaking periodic audits
- Overseeing rent accounts and managing arrears in a proactive and sensitive manner
- Administering the organisation’s obligations in relation to rent deposit schemes
- Ensuring the organisation’s housing management system is regularly updated and accurate tenancy records are kept
What you’ll bring to Jewish Care:
- CIH qualification Level 2/3 (Desirable)
- Similar experience within a Housing Association, Local Authority or Private Lettings Company
- Neighbourhood management experience within a supported or ‘with care’ context
- Experience managing void properties and property lettings
- Experience managing rent accounts, including arrears management and debt recovery
- Knowledge of tenancy agreements, rent setting, service charge legislation and other regulations for landlords
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to team working and delivering a high quality, flexible and responsive service
- A clean UK driving licence and the ability to travel as needed with own vehicle
