Being employed is about more than earning money. It’s about feeling valued, independent and fulfilled. We’re committed to doing everything we can to make this possible for more people with a learning disability to get employed by organisations in our community.
We understand that being part of the world of work – or volunteering – can hugely benefit an individual’s self-esteem, confidence and overall independence. People with learning disabilities often face significant obstacles when it comes to getting, and keeping, a job.
The system to deliver Supported Employment has been developed with people with a learning disability by key players in the field, so we know that it works.
We aim that through this portal, we will be able to help people with learning disabilities to learn new skills and to find work within the community.
Through a specialist employment programme, supported by Langdon, one of the key organisations in the field, we would like to help members in our community to meet and overcome barriers to develop their professional skills and go on to thrive in the workplace.
We want people with learning disabilities to have the same opportunities as their peers; to experience the satisfaction that comes from a good day’s work.
If you would like to offer a supported employment position
We appreciate that employers need to be fully supported when employing someone with different skills.
We will aim to assign an employment co-ordinator who, upon matching employer to employee, explains what the employer can expect and will be available to talk frankly about any concerns. The employment co-ordinator will also regularly monitor performance on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis, addressing any issues that may arise.
Most of the members coming from our pool of candidates, are qualified, reliable and work-ready.
Take the lead.
